About the PhD in Medical Microbiology
Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) offers postgraduate education through the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS). Oversight of research and the academic program is carried out by university bodies including the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), Institutional (ethical) Review Board (IRB), Doctoral Admission Committee, and other similar entities. Currently, over 180 M.Phil and PhD students have graduated from DUHS and are holding key positions at esteemed national and international institutions.
Among the PhD programs of DUHS, PhD program in Microbiology is also being offered, which is an expanding, interdisciplinary field with applications in academia and industry. The program’s primary goal is to accelerate the development of novel diagnostic methods and therapies through a collaborative bench- to-bedside approach. The program covers a wide range of research areas in Microbiology, including Microbial Genetics, Bacterial and Viral Pathogenesis, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Antimicrobial Strategies and Resistance Mechanisms. This comprehensive approach is designed to equip researchers with the knowledge and tools to explore the microbial world, addressing challenges in health, industry, and the environment.
The Ph.D. program in Microbiology is designed to equip researchers with a profound understanding of the subject, enabling them to explore the molecular underpinnings of diseases and create innovative diagnostics and therapeutics tailored to individual needs.
