About the MDS in Operative Dentistry
Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) is one of the flag bearers of health science education and research in Pakistan. Manifested from the mission of the University, DUHS is continuously upgrading its research themes for in the progressively evolving field of Operative Dentistry.
Masters of Dental Surgery in Operative Dentistry is a specialized postgraduate program that focuses on advanced techniques and skills in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of dental caries (tooth decay) and other defects of teeth. Operative dentistry is a critical aspect of general dentistry, aiming to restore the function, aesthetics, and health of teeth through various procedures.
During the program, students delve into a wide range of topics including dental materials, restorative techniques, adhesive dentistry, endodontics (root canal treatment), and esthetic dentistry. They learn advanced methods for restoring teeth using materials such as composite resins, ceramics, and amalgam, and gain expertise in techniques like tooth preparation, cavity design, and dental bonding.
Students also develop proficiency in managing complex cases involving dental trauma, tooth wear, and structural defects. The program often integrates hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world dental practice settings under the guidance of experienced faculty.
