Dow University of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dow College of Biotechnology is pleased to share that Ms.Iffat Waqar (Alumni and MPhil scholar of DCoB) and Ms. Sukaina Arshad (BS final year student at DCoB) have successfully drafted the complete Mitochondrial genome of indigenously developed fly line of Drosophila melanogaster (white eye mutant), sequenced using NGS platforms.
The full draft of the genome has been reviewed by NCBI and released yesterday (Accession number OR555819). This makes the first drafted eukaryotic genome of DUHS and first of any model organism from Pakistan. The faculty of DCoB congratulate Ms. Iffat and Ms. Sukaina for this achievement.
