Universal Children’s Day, observed annually on November 20th, underscores the global commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights, welfare, and well-being of children. Established by the United Nations in 1954, this day serves as a pivotal reminder to honor the principles outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted in 1989.
For 2024, the theme, “Inclusion, For Every Child,” emphasized pressing global issues such as climate change, digital rights, education, and child protection in conflict zones, resonating strongly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
• Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
• Goal 4: Quality Education
• Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
• Goal 13: Climate Action
