As part of co-curricular activities, the Department of Pharmaceutics at Dow College of Pharmacy, under the leadership of Principal Professor Dr. Sumbul Shamim, organized industrial visits for final-year PharmD students. These visits, held at three leading pharmaceutical industries—Getz Pharma, GSK Pakistan, and Hoechst Pakistan—provided an invaluable opportunity for students to gain hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Students observed the production of oral solid dosage forms, liquid dosage forms, and sterile products, including antibiotics like penicillin. They also learned about Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, enhancing their understanding of industrial standards and practices. The visits, catering to both morning and evening shift students, served as a bridge between academic knowledge and practical applications.

The initiative was expertly supervised by esteemed faculty members from the Department of Pharmaceutics, including Dr. Mehwish Rizvi, Dr. Ahsan Ali, Dr. Shumaila Shafique, Dr. Omer Mustapha, Dr. Riffat Yasmin, Dr. Wajiha Iffat, Dr. Sana Ghayas, and Dr. Rahila Bano. These activities were facilitated by the department’s in-charge, Dr. Tariq Ali, with exceptional support from Principal Professor Dr. Sumbul Shamim and Dean Professor Dr. Rabia Bushra. Vice Principal Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Arshad played a pivotal role in the successful execution of these visits.
