On October 3, 2024, the Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases (OICD), DUHS hosted a successful hybrid webinar on Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), National TB Program, and Communicable Disease Control Sindh. The webinar brought together pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, pediatricians, and healthcare leaders from across Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, Director of OICD, highlighted the importance of TB prevention, while Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy T.I, Vice Chancellor of DUHS, emphasized the institution’s dedication to strengthening partnerships for quality healthcare. WHO experts Dr. Avinash and Dr. Santosha shared valuable global and regional insights on TPT.
The event also showcased OICD’s progress towards becoming a WHO Collaborative Center for Tuberculosis Research, with key contributions from Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Dharejo, Dr. Salim Hassan Kazmi (CDC Sindh), Dr. Afrasyab Altab, and Dr. Faisal Siraj (NTP Pakistan).
With over 70 participants attending online, the webinar reflected a strong, united effort between national and international partners in the fight against tuberculosis in Pakistan.
