On January 15, 2025, Dow University of Health Sciences Official (DUHS) set a groundbreaking precedent by launching its comprehensive Strategic Plan 2024-2030—a first-of-its-kind initiative for any public sector university in Pakistan. Held at the ARAG Auditorium, Dow Medical College, this landmark event brought together key leaders, faculty, researchers, and healthcare professionals to witness the unveiling of an ambitious vision for the future of health education and research.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy, T.I, opened the event with an inspiring welcome address, emphasizing the university’s role as a trailblazer in transforming healthcare education and delivery. Sohail Rao, President and CEO, InnovaCore Center for Research and Biotechnology and Senior Scientific Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, presented the comprehensive plan, highlighting how DUHS is redefining public sector leadership through innovation, research, and global collaboration.
The Strategic Plan which emboldens ONE DOW, is a bold blueprint to revolutionize healthcare, advance research, and improve patient care. It integrates cutting-edge advancements in technology and aims to address modern healthcare challenges through a multi-faceted approach:
Technology Integration: Leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, telemedicine, and digital learning platforms to modernize education and healthcare delivery.
Center for Emerging Technologies: Establishing a state-of-the-art hub for innovation and interdisciplinary research.
Global Collaborations: Partnering with international institutions to drive impactful research and create a global footprint.
Healthcare Leadership: Advancing interdisciplinary research to address pressing health challenges such as chronic diseases, healthcare inequity, and global pandemics.
What sets DUHS apart is that it is the first public sector university in Pakistan to develop such a comprehensive and forward-thinking strategic plan. Moreover, each academic and non-academic unit within the university has developed its own respective plan to complement and align with the university’s overarching goals. This ensures a unified, institution-wide approach to achieving excellence and innovation across all domains.
The event also celebrated the contributions of the Executive Committee for Strategic Planning and Implementation, whose efforts ensured the plan’s successful creation and rollout. The session concluded with networking and refreshments, offering participants an opportunity to exchange ideas for the university’s transformative future.
