The Department of ENT – Head & Neck Surgery Unit-I, CHK-DUHS successfully hosted a CME-accredited seminar titled “The Role of Histology in the Management of Head and Neck Pathologies” on November 6, 2024. Under the esteemed direction of Prof. Dr. Zeba Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department of ENT – DUHS, this educational event brought together a wide array of medical professionals, including pathologists, ENT specialists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and plastic surgeons, to advance clinical knowledge and techniques in head and neck pathology.
The seminar began with a presentation by Dr. Aisha Siddiqui, Resident at ENT-Head & Neck Surgery Unit-I, on “Lymphatic Drainage of the Head and Neck.” Following this, Prof. Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Head of Pathology at DUHS, and Prof. Dr. Tazeen Mustansar delivered an in-depth discussion on biopsy techniques, focusing on types, indications, and the crucial role of frozen sections. Dr. Shaima Sultana Memon, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, concluded the seminar with a comprehensive session on Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) for diagnosing head and neck pathologies, emphasizing its advantages over traditional biopsies.
An engaging Q&A session allowed participants to interact with the speakers, exchanging valuable clinical insights. Prof. Dr. Zeba Ahmed concluded the event with words of gratitude, acknowledging the contributions of each speaker, participant, and organizer. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to key facilitators, recognizing their commitment.
