Haematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. These vary from anemia to diseases such as leukemia. While many of these patients are undergoing investigations and treatments for blood cancers, others have non-cancerous disorders. There are patients with some blood disorders who may require bone marrow transplantation for getting cure from their diseases.
Clinical Haematology and bone marrow transplantation (BMT) at DUHS, Ojha campus is the first clinical haematology program in public sector of the Province with all the facilities available for the treatment of blood disease patients under one roof ranging from outpatient consultation up to bone marrow transplantation.
The program is established with the intension to provide all ‘care’ related elements to our people under one roof which include diagnostics, treatment, prevention, research, and preparing competent physicians for the community through high quality fellowship, residency & internship training programs.
The University coined a unique concept of ‘one corridor service’ and developed it for the convenience of the patients so that all the facilities including clinics, lab collection, pharmacy, day care unit, in-patient ward as well as leukemia and BMT units are available on the same floor of the hospital.
