About the MPhil in Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the study concerned with all aspects of action of drugs on living system including the mechanism of drug action, drug interactions, side effects, clinical indications and pharmacokinetics. Both pre-clinical and clinical characteristics of drugs can be explored at basic, applied, molecular and genetic level. The research uses various in-vitro, in-vivo, in-silico techniques and computational aspects of drug discovery in the areas including all of the following but not limited to Neuropharmacology, cardiovascular, inflammation, infectious diseases, pharmacogenomics, and molecular, clinical, behavioral pharmacology of various systems.
Just like all other research programs at DUHS, our M. Phil program is also offered through School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS), DUHS. To create the whole process of research and academia smooth and successful, there are few important committees of DUHS for assistance. Scientific committee, Ethical Committees (Animal & Clinical IRB), and BASR (Board of Advanced Studies & Research) are the important university governed bodies to facilitate researchers. Up till now, 10 students have been graduated from DCOP making their impact in various esteemed organizations. And currently, 10 students are enrolled in M. Phil Pharmacology Program at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences to pursue their research career. The program provides opportunities to acquire the skills of synthesis analysis and development of the research ideas ultimately translating into a form of thesis by the help of highly qualified, active and dedicated faculty.
