At DIPM&R, the Audiology Lab has officially commenced operations. An Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR) test was conducted on a 2.4-year-old boy. With this development, the Audiology Department will now be able to perform all necessary tests and manage audiological care regularly. ASSR is an objective test designed to assess hearing abilities in children who are too young for conventional audiometric testing. It’s crucial that the child remains quiet and still during the test to ensure reliable results.
At DIPM&R, we are already providing the clinical services of Speech & Language Therapies. This ASSR testing will collaborate and provide vital information for the precise fitting of hearing aids and speech-language therapy. Early identification of hearing issues through accurate assessments allows for the timely fitting of sensory devices, including cochlear implants, which helps minimize delays in auditory, speech, and language development. This innovation will greatly support children facing challenges in speech and language pathology.
This milestone has been achieved through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Farhan Ishaque, Director of DIPM&R, alongside Dr. Rustam Zaman, Director of OPD, and the audiology team, Mr. Shahid Rajpout and Mrs. Nuzhat Shahid.
