The successful completion of the 1st ever Advanced One-Day Toxicology Workshop was held at Dow University Hospital (DUH), DUHS, on 11th December 2024. The workshop featured insightful sessions led by experienced guest speakers and concluded with an engaging quiz and activity. The event was well-attended, with participants appreciating the expert-led discussions and interactive sessions.

Ms. Aasma Hamid, Director of Pharmacy Services at DUH, arranged the workshop with the goal of understanding the basic principles of toxicology and exploring best practices in managing toxic exposures. The workshop included insights from expert guest speakers and aimed to create awareness among healthcare professionals.

Professor Dr. Nadeem Ullah Khan, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Consultant Toxicologist from Aga Khan University Hospital, the only clinical toxicologist in Pakistan, led the session on “Approach to a Patient with Toxic Ingestion.” Meanwhile, Dr. Ramlah Naz, Head of Department and Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at DIMC/DUHS, greatly demonstrated “The Significance of Clinical Toxicology from a Forensic Expert’s Perspective.”

Dr. Hafsah Ashfaq, Assistant Manager – Clinical Pharmacy, AHSP-certified in Pharmacy Informatics and a toxicology-certified pharmacist, helped pharmacists understand key resources that can assist in managing toxic exposures.
