The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, visited the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on 25th July 2024 for a review of the PM Youth Programme’s activities at Pakistan’s premier healthcare university and their alignment with the programme’s goals and objectives. Accompanying the Chairman were Engr. Javed Memon, Regional Director and Director/In-Charge Regional Center Karachi and Sports Co-Curricular Division HEC, Mr. Nihal Hashmi (PML), Ms. Madiha Aslam, Coordinator PMYP, and Mr. Fahad Shafiq Coordinator PMYP.
During the tour of the PM Youth Development Centre (PMYDC) and subsequent event at the ARAG Auditorium at Dow Medical College, the PMYP team was briefed about the activities and achievements of the PM Youth Development Centre by Farhan Khan, Manager PMYDC at DUHS, and the Green Youth Movement (GYM) by Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal Dow College of Pharmacy and Focal Person GYM at DUHS.
In his address to the crowd of over 100 DUHS students, Mr. Rana Mashhood laid emphasis on the PM Youth Programme’s renewed resolve in promoting youth empowerment and involvement in all spheres of Pakistan’s future ranging from opportunities such as scholarships, job support and career building and startup funding, to the Talent Hunt Youth Sports League, skills development (including healthcare), and other PMYP projects. The visit culminated with a tree plantation activity by Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, as a symbol of long-term commitment and collaboration between the PM Youth Programme and Dow University of Health Sciences.
The PMYP team was hosted by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy T.I, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Nazli Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr. Jahan Ara Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr. Ashar Afaq, Registrar; Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal Dow College of Pharmacy; Dr. Saba Sohail, Principal Dow Medical College; and Mr. Tariq Shahid, Director Marketing and Communications.
