The Department of Biochemistry at Dow Medical College, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Karachi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This ceremony was conducted at the esteemed Dow University of Health Sciences on 24 May 2024.
The event was graced by distinguished guests from both institutions, each playing a pivotal role in this collaborative endeavor. Representing Dow University of Health Sciences were Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy T.I, Vice Chancellor; Dr Ashar Afaq, Registrar; Prof. Danish Haseen, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Dow Medical College; and Dr Muhammad Bilal Azmi, who will be leading the newly funded Computational Biochemistry Research Laboratory.
From the University of Karachi, the attendees included Prof. Shamim A. Qureshi, Secretary of the University of Karachi Alumni Association Baltimore USA; Prof. Farhat Batool, Chairperson of the Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Noman, Associate Professor; and Dr. Tooba Lateef, Assistant Professor, all of whom will be playing key roles in this collaborative research project.
This MoU is not just a symbolic gesture, but a commitment to fostering collaborative research and enhancing academic excellence in the field of biochemistry. The establishment of the Computational Biochemistry Research Laboratory at Dow Medical College, funded by the University of Karachi Alumni Association Baltimore USA, is a testament to this commitment. This partnership is poised to drive significant advancements in biochemistry, a field that holds immense potential for both institutions and the global scientific community.
