Pace Maker:

A pacemaker is a small device that's placed in the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms. This device uses low-energy electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate. Pacemakers are used to treat arrhythmias.

Objective: To design and develop a cardiac pacemaker in Pakistan at lower cost.

We welcome all the projects associated with this goal. A participant may work on a demonstrative concept pacemaker system or a component of a cardiac pacemaker, like battery, capacitor, integrated circuit, pacemaker lead development. Guidance will be provided to the winners as the project develops.

 2  Electronic Stethoscope:

Stethoscope is the most common tool in medicine. With the advancement of portable electronics and smart devices we can hear the heart and respiratory sounds via a smart phone with a high fidelity microphone.

Objective: To produce a working model of such device at lower cost this is able to amplify cardiac and respiratory sounds.

 3  Telemedicine application for cancer patients

Telemedicine and remote healthcare in general, lower costs by increasing preventative care and reducing time to access. With the advances in smartphones technology as the primary device for communication for consumers, Telemedicine and Telehealth applications are now using smartphones.

The diagnosis of cancer is devastating for the patients and their families. There is a shortage of well-trained oncologists in Pakistan, which severely limits access to cancer care in a timely manner.

Objective: To develop smartphone based applications for patients to communicate and seek opinion from oncologist about the diagnosis and treatment.
